Our Ethos and Aims

The St Mary Magdalene Centre was founded by members of the parish of St Magdalene and St David in January 1997. From the beginning we were joined by volunteers from neighbouring churches of all denominations and by other members of the local community who shared our concern to provide a welcome in London for refugees and asylum seekers.

"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble"

  Psalm 46:1

Our Aims are:

1. To advance education and relieve financial hardship amongst those seeking asylum and those granted refugee status by the provision of advice, training and support.

2. To advance the education of the public in general about the issues relating to refugees and those seeking asylum.

3. To advance the Christian religion by living out our love for neighbour and bringing the stranger into our community.
